Jerry L. Schildmeier

. Jerry L. Schildmeier (Poppy), 83, Anderson, passed away April 3, 2020 at his residence after an extended illness with his family at his side. He was born August 23, 1936 in Anderson, the son of the late Herbert and Mary (Tucker) Schildmeier. He lived all of his life in Anderson and retired in 1992 from the Anderson Fire Department after 23 years of service and after retirement he enjoyed working security at the Anderson City Courts. Jerry proudly served in the Army National Guard, was a member of Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681, Indiana Firefighters Association and Madison Park Church of God. Jerry enjoyed spending time at his cottage at the lake, boating, fishing and mowing lawns. He was a great story teller and loved being Poppy. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty; four children, Anthony (Rita) Schildmeier, Mike Schildmeier, Fawn Kelly, Jeri Jo (Todd) Seabold; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one brother and four sisters. He was preceded in death by grandchildren, Jonathan Bagley and Lynsey Schildmeier; son-in-law, Terry Kelly and one brother and one sister. Due to Covid-19 a private memorial service will be held with Rev. Tim Bailey officiating. Inurnment will take place in East Maplewood Cemetery. A walk thru visitation, with social distancing will be from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the Firefighters Lodge, 105 West 53rd St., Anderson, IN. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice or The Christian Center.
