Jerry G. Whitaker, 68, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at his home following a brief illness.
He was born on January 23, 1943, in Elwood, Indiana to Otto and Novella (Hatcher) Whitaker.
Jerry retired in 1998 from the former Guide division of General Motors in Anderson after 37 years of employment.
He attended Prairie Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 47 yeras, Marty (Shipman) Whitaker; two sons, Todd Whitaker of Greenwood, and Troy (wife, Tracy) Whitaker of Fishers; five grandchildren, Daniel Whitaker, Holly Whitaker, Trey Whitaker, Jake Whitaker, and Zoey Whitaker; one great-grandson, Gavin Whitaker; two brothers, Thomas (wife, Betty) Whitaker of Kansas City, KS, and Terry (wife, Carolyn) Whitaker of Frankton; and three sisters, Evelyn (husband, Jack) Alexander of Frankton, Ludie Scott of Columbus, OH, and Janet Randall of Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Glen Whitaker; and four sisters, Bobbie Alexander, Betty Wolfe, Jeannie Atwood, and Helen Hobbs.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, May 2, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Marlin Savidge officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Memorial Cemetery, Noblesville.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
