Jerald G. “Jerry” Hover

April 3, 1945 — April 29, 2022

Jerald “Jerry” Hover, 77, of Anderson, IN passed away on April 29, 2022, doing what he loved – tinkering around in the barn. He was born on April 3, 1945 in Trenton, Missouri to the late, Carl and Viola (Oakes) Hover. Jerry married his loving wife, Tonya (Olinger) Hover, and they spent many wonderful years together. Jerry graduated from Highland High School and then went on to attend Purdue University. He worked as a Tool Maker for Delco-Remy by trade, but he was a farmer at heart. Jerry loved gardening and many of his friends and neighbors received fresh garden vegetables from him. He also enjoyed cats, wiener roasts and bonfires, cooking, bee keeping, and watching sports. (Not necessarily in that order). Most importantly, he loved his family, especially his grandkids and would attend as many activities for them as he possibly could.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
Jerry will be dearly missed by his wife, Tonya; his daughters, Tracey (Jon) Fonacier and Trisha Hover-Catron; his step-sons, Brandon Olinger, Mathew Olinger, Ryan (Kayla) Szymczak, and Nicholas Szymczak; his grandchildren, Miranda “Freddie” (Andy) Powell, Riece Hover, Taylor Catron, Adam Fonacier, Sophie Fonacier, Dominick “Bug” Olinger, Sophia “Gracie” Olinger, Colt Szymczak, and Axel Szymczak; his numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He loved spending time in person and on the phone with his surviving siblings, Rosemary Dougherty, Ted (Linda) Hover, and Wanda Pontious.
The visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. The service will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. For those attending please do so in true ‘Jerry Fashion’ by dressing comfortably to celebrate his life, not mourn his death.
