Jeffrey L. Coomer

Jeffrey L. Coomer, 56, Lapel, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness. He was born on October 6, 1955, in Anderson, Indiana to James and Nell (Herrell) Coomer. He graduated from Lapel High School in 1973. Jeff began his career at Mighty Handy hardware in Noblesville then purchased the Lapel Hardware which he ran for many years. He loved raising organic livestock and gardening. He also loved raising and showing English and Hackney horses. He is survived by his son, Justin (wife, Nichole) Coomer of Kokomo; two brothers, Blaine (wife, Terri) Coomer of Indianapolis and Gary (wife, Nancy) Coomer of Springboro, OH; and five nephews, Andy, Blake, Jacob, Cameron (wife, Marci), and Clayton (wife, Allie) Coomer. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece, Cory Clark. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Ron Steege officiating. Private burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
