Jay Lee Renbarger

Jay Lee Renbarger, 72, Lapel, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Saint Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following an extended illness. He was born on July 24, 1943, in Marion, Indiana to Richard and Geogianna (Cabe) Renbarger. He graduated from Lapel High School in 1961. Jay Lee retired in 2002 from Snodgrass Sheet Metal Company in Indianapolis and had worked at several other sheet metal companies. After retirement, he drove a bus for handicapped children in the Frankton-Lapel Schools. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Fall Creek Golf Club in Pendleton. He enjoyed his winters in Florida after retirement. He enjoyed being outside and spending time with his grandchildren. Jay Lee was a notorious practical jokester. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue (Boles) Renbarger; two children, Chad (wife, Holly) Renbarger of Fishers and Tonya (husband, Brian) Gill of Lapel; four grandchildren, Riley Gill, Connor Jay Gill, Ellison Renbarger, and Jay Renbarger; two brothers, Raymond Renbarger of Anderson and Roger (wife, Leah Sue) Renbarger of Lapel; one sister, Ida Belle Mills of Lapel; two sisters-in-law, Judy Renbarger of Pendleton and Wilma Jones of Anderson; and a brother-in-law, Duane Dickerson of Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph Renbarger; a sister, Mary Lou Dickerson; and a sister-in-law, Leah Renbarger. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel with Pastor Dewey Miller officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 7th and Walnut Streets, Lapel. The family would like to acknowledge all the help that Jay Lee received from nephews, Todd and Troy Jones during his stay in the hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
