Janice Sue Martz

Janice Sue Martz, 71, left this world to be with our Lord on Monday, June 22, 2020 at her home. Janice was born on September 3, 1948 in Anderson, the daughter of Loren E. and Rosemary (Adams) VanNess. The family moved around the country while Lorene served in the Marines, of which she was very proud, before settling back in Anderson. She is survived by her six children, Mike (Chris) Wihebrink of Muncie, John Humphrey of Franklin, Heidi Humphrey of Anderson, Danny (Amanda) Humphrey of Chesterfield, Kerry Humphrey of Cleveland and Kandy (Robert) Humphrey of Florida; 11 grandkids; 18 great-grandkids; and siblings, Marilyn Landes, Larry VanNess and Robin Blake; special sister-in-law & special friend, Barbara Robertson of Franklin; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She worked as a clerk at Gordon Food Service for the past 13 years, where many guests came in to see what “Holiday accessories” she was wearing that day. She also worked in the cafeteria at Eastside Elementary School where she enjoyed seeing the kids every day. Prior to that she worked in direct care at the Hopewell Center and at the Anderson Mattress Factory. She also served on the Board of Directors at the Veterans of Madison County for the last 7 years where she planned/organized/worked all the kids’ holiday parties that brought great joy to the kids and members alike. She loved life, holidays and people. Her yard was always full of decorations for whatever holiday was coming up – with Christmas being her favorite. She listened to and watched Christmas shows year round. She especially loved the Hallmark Channel for all the love stories/movies. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cassandra Wellman. As per her wishes, Janice will be cremated. The Celebration of Janice’s life will begin with a procession from Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory to the Veterans of Madison County. We will be leaving the funeral home at 1:30 pm Friday. A visitation with memorial dinner will be from 2-5 pm at the Veterans of Madison County, 3607 East 10th St, Anderson, IN. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 5pm, officiated by Dwayne Peak at the Veterans of Madison County.
