Janice Kay Sparks

Janice Kay Sparks, 78, of Anderson, passed away on September 25, 2021 at Community Hospital Anderson. She was born on October 31, 1942 in Kokomo to the late Samuel Mason and Evelyn F. (Hensley) Rinehart. Janice was a Realtor with Carpenter Realtors for many years having won many outstanding sales awards. She was a member of the Anderson Rotary Club, National Association of Realtors, Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors, Church of God (she was a lifelong Christian), past President of the South Madison School Board and the Racquet Club of Anderson. She enjoyed bowling, boating, coaching her daughter’s softball teams. As a youth, she placed in many cattle showmanship competitions and won many tractor pulls at the Indiana State Fair. In recent years, she enjoyed reading to the students of Anderson Community Schools and spending time at Lake Lemon. Janice is survived by her husband, Scott Sparks of Anderson; son, Scott Herr of Indianapolis; daughter, Michelle (Wayne) Herr Bruzzese of Anderson; step children, Jada (Steve) Sparks Green of Indianapolis, Jed S. Sparks of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Ross Underwood, Leigha Underwood, Carter Hall, Jack Hall; step granddaughter, Taylor Sparks; sister Barbara (Rod) Stevens; nephew, Chris Stevens; niece, Lara Reyes and special friend, Carol Phillips. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, John Ice and sister, Marilyn Rinehart. Services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11:00 am at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013 with Rev. Steve Williamson officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alexandria Community School Corporation Bookmobile Fund.
