Janice Ann Morris

PENDLETON- Janice Ann (Simpkins) Morris, 79, passed away December 25, 2023 at her home.

She was born February 3, 1944 in Connersville, Indiana to Charles Dale and Edna (Hubbell) Simpkins.

Janice was a 1962 graduate of New Salem High School in Southeast Rush County and attended Purdue University.

Professionally in addition to being an Army Officer’s wife she served as a Field Officer for the Indiana State Department of Commerce where she received many accolades for her accomplishments including Employee of the Month for September 1988. Additionally she was bestowed the honor of being named a Sagamore of the Wabash. Janice was past board member for the Indianapolis Chapter, March of Dimes and past member of the Carmel Jaycees. Janice was very involved in 4-H. Her spiritual home was Pendleton Christian Church, previously she was a member and trustee at Carmel Christian Church. She began her spiritual journey as a young girl at Little Flat Rock Christian Church in Rush County.

Survivors include her beloved husband, John L. Morris who she married June 13, 1965; sister, Phyllis J. “Janie” LaFollette; brothers, James (Deborah) Simpkins and Michael (Karen) Simpkins; brother in law, Jim (Becky) Morris; sister in law, Mary Lou Huey; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother in law, Ronald LaFollette.

Services will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2024 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St. Pendleton with Pastor Michael Canada officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2024 and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2024 at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions suggested to Friends for Paws, Pendleton; Indiana State 4-H Foundation; Multiple Sclerosis Foundation; Little Flat Rock Christian Church; Pendleton Christian Church or charity of the donor’s choice.
