Jane Eleanor (Kaiser) Owens, Noblesville, passed away on her 92nd birthday, Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville following an extended illness.
She was born on August 27, 1919, in Hamilton County, Indiana to Harry and Edith (Kepner) Kaiser.
She graduated from Lapel High School in 1938.
Jane retired from College Life Insurance Company in Indianapolis. After her retirement, she continued to work and volunteer well into her eighties.
She was the last member of the former Olive Branch Lutheran Church that merged into Bethel Lutheran Church in 1932. She was active in the United Methodist Women at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Upon her return to Bethel Lutheran, she was involved in many church activities. She was the fifth generation of her family to be baptised in the church and her great-grandchildren are the eighth generation. Jane was a Hamilton County poll worker into her eighties. She was a very charitable and giving person and she felt that no matter how little you had, there was always something to give to others.
She is survived by three children, Bill Owens of Lapel, Melinda (husband, Ed) Roberts of Fishers, and Marilou Owens of Noblesville; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann (husband, Richard) Gutierrez of Fishers, and Sara Jane (husband, Sean) McHenry of Fishers; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Edward, Zoe Elizabeth, Olive Eleanor, and Sasha Jane McHenry; and several special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jake, Harry, and John Paul Kaiser; and a sister, Josephine Renner.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Noblesville with Pastor Doug Gast officiating. Burial will follow in Zimmer Cemetery located on the farm where she was born.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
