James “Butch” Walker, 80, of Pendleton and former New Castle resident passed away October 27, 2023 surrounded by his family.
He was born May 26, 1943 in New Castle, Indiana and was a Pendleton resident since 1977.
Butch retired from Allegheny Ludlum in New Castle following over 20 years of service.
He was a US Army veteran. Butch was a member of Eagles Lodge, New Castle; American Legion Post, New Castle; and Madison Masonic Lodge #44 F. & A.M, Pendleton.
Butch loved music and dancing. He was an avid fan of 50’s and 60’s Rock n Roll and Ballads. He loved reminiscing about the numerous times he danced the night away and rumor has it he won quite a few local dance contests back in the day.
He loved the outdoors and was often hunting or fishing with his buddies. He collected many “toys” (his words for his hunting and fishing gear) throughout his life and found joy tinkering with them still at the age of 80.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Phillip Walker; mother, Bonnie (Neal) Crandall; and brother, Rick Walker.
Survivors include children, Lesli (Troy) McKinley and Lori (Mark) Radcliff both of Pendleton; and Michael DeHeer and Amy Cessna both of Indianapolis; numerous grandchildren including Aubree Dwiggins, Nick and Chase Radcliff; and Tyler, Jacob and Natalie McKinley; sister, Anita K. New of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and lifelong friends, Les Branham and Lynda Pierce.
A celebration of Butch’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton with Pastor Ryan Kellam officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.
