James W. “Jim” DeaKyne, 88, Anderson, passed away November 27, 2016, at Community Hospital after a brief illness. He was born July 7, 1928, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Hollis and Harriet (Whitesell) DeaKyne. He was a 1946 graduate of Alexandria High School and served in the United States Marine Corp. Jim retired in 1990 from Central Indiana Gas Company after 39 years. He was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church, American Legion Post #127, Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine Temple and the Madison County Shrine Club. He is survived by his wife, Carole J. DeaKyne of Anderson; two children, Jeff (Kathy) DeaKyne of Carmel, Julia (David) Cunningham of Fishers, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Fletcher of Lowell ,Ind, Virginia (Bill) Linsberg of Englewood, FL, six nephews, two nieces and several great nieces & nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Joyce DeaKyne and his second wife of 14 years, Jerry DeaKyne. Service will be at 12:00 PM Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Ned Clark officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:45 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Chesterfield Christian Church.
