James Roy Foster, 89, of Anderson, passed away on September 16, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. James was born on August 1, 1929 in Anderson to the late Roy and Mary (Wyatt) Foster. James proudly served as a Marine in the Korean War and involved in the Chosin Reservoir after which he was awarded a Purple Heart. He retired as a firefighter from the Anderson Fire Department in 1980 after 19 years of service. Following in his Father’s footsteps he became the second of four generations of Anderson Firefighters continuing to serve today. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and building model ships. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Magin) Foster of Anderson; children, John (Orena) Foster of Anderson, Jennifer Humphries (Paul Godbout) of Mesquite, Nevada, Joni Foster of Indianapolis; sister, Jerry McKain of Marion; grandchildren, Caleb Foster, Adrienne Lovell, Audrey Moore, Adam Lovell, Rachael Brunkow; great grandchildren, Kristien Humphries, Tanner Brunkow Seth Brunkow, Ian Lovell, Coral Heaps; great great grandchildren, Aliyah Duran and Tayvin Duran. He was preceded in death by a step granddaughter, Christa Moore. Services will be held on Friday at 7:00 pm with full military rites at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. Cremation will take place. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Marine Corp League, 3619 Jefferson Davis Hwy STE 115, Stafford, VA 22554.
