James B. Orick, 88, of Anderson passed away September 12, 2014 at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born March 13, 1926 in Frakes, KY; the son of Alvie Luther and Mary Jane (Maiden) Orick, and had lived in Anderson since 1961.
Jim retired from Duke’s GMC in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Orick of Anderson; son Jim (wife, Thelma) Orick; two daughters, Kathryn Stoops and Patty (husband, David) Morgan all of Anderson; five grandsons, Jason (wife, Elizabeth) Orick of McCordsville; David (wife, Sarah) Orick, Shannon (wife, Brandy) Orick, Ryan Morgan and Kory (wife, Jessica) Crawford all of Anderson; three step grandchildren, Nikki Haler, Danielle Humbles and Keegan Humbles; great grandchildren, Miranda and Mike Orick, Alex and Abrham Orick, Jacqueline, Jagger and Preston Orick, and Rylie Morgan; step great grandchildren, Shelby and Steven Miller, Benjamin and Gracie Schlabach; one great great Granddaughter, Kinlee Speece; brother, Bill Orick of Williamstown, KY; nieces, Carol Ledford, Vivian Shoemaker, Gwen Brewer and Maggie Blackford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Chris Mishler officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 266 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
