James L. Mills

James Mills, 81, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away August 29, 2024, at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Anderson, Indiana. 

He was born on June 20, 1943, in Albany, Kentucky to the late James Mills and Maxine (Branham) Mills. James worked at Smurfit-Stone as a Maintenance/Mechanic. 

He enjoyed gardening and spending time and teasing his grandkids; watching Gunsmoke; and loved his coffee. James was a hardworker and giving man but most importantly loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. 

James is survived by his children, Rodney Mills & Amber (Jay) Parker; five grandchildren, Kayla Coen, Austin Coen, Brianna Mills, Maddie Parker & Gracie Parker; 4 great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Violet, McKinley & Ryker James; & special Niece, Robin Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Regene Mills, Anna "Kate" Leonard & Mary Gilley; daughter, Kathy Mills Coen; & widowed partner, Betty Mills.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Bozell Funeral Homes-Brown-Butz- Diedring Chapel, 515 E. 53rd Street Anderson, Indiana. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00pm at the funeral home.
