James M. “Huck” Mills, age 81, of Anderson, passed away April 27, 2017 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born on July 15, 1935 and was a resident of Anderson most of his life. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1953, and apprentice school where he served a four year apprenticeship to become a tool and die maker. He retired from Fisher Guide as a tool room supervisor after 27 years of employment. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Anderson for more than 50 years. Huck was an avid goose, duck and turkey hunter and loved all kinds of fishing. He traveled extensively with his wife, children and grandchildren. He and his wife, Beverly had visited many foreign countries and most of our nation’s National Parks. He loved his family and treasured his time with them. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Beverly Stokes Mills of Anderson; four children, Chris (Brent) Sylvester of Northport, FL; Tony Mills of Brunswick, Georgia, Brenna (Kevin) Monaghan of Daleville and Amy Mills of Anderson. Also surviving, are seven grandchildren; Heath Hensley, Kelsey and Sophia McGarity, Eliana and Cian Monaghan, Jessica Pinyon and Jocelyn Mills; and eight great grandchildren; Autumn, Adalyn, Hudson, Liam, Molly, Jeremiah, Jaziah and Adalaide; his aunt, Mary Bennett of Anderson and sister-in-law, Jean Mills of Bradenton, FL. Also surviving, is good friend and hunting partner, Reinhold Mueller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Kenneth Mills; his daughter, Rachel Mills in 1982, and his only sibling, Larry “Burr” Mills in 2012. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 11th and Delaware Street, Anderson with Bishop William Smalley officiating. Burial will be in Bronnenberg Cemetery in Chesterfield. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or the Animal Protection League of Madison County.
