James “Jim” Burmeister, 85, of Anderson, passed away, July 1, 2020 at his residence following a brief illness. Jim was born Oct. 4, 1934, in Tuscola, Ill., the son of Raymond and Jessie Burmeister and was a 1952 graduate of Markleville High School and a Navy veteran. Jim was employed as a security guard for Guide Lamp and retired after 30 years of employment. He liked to fish, play and watch baseball. In 1965 he won his team’s batting championship. He also enjoyed playing with and watching his grandchildren’s sports teams as well. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Faith Stohler Burmeister; granddaughter, Mercedes Holt; great-grandsons, Brock Rose, Bronsin Buck, and Nevin Burmeister. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Love, granddaughter, Deidre Burmeister; and a brother, Robert Burmeister. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Pastor John Hackney officiating. Burial will follow at Mt Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Social distancing will be practiced and the family request that guests wear masks. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Post online condolences at www.brownbutzdiedring.com.
