James Robert “Bob” Griffith, 97, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He was born September 12, 1924, in Middleton to the late Ernest & Edith (Brown) Griffith. He was owner and operator of Griffith Motors for many years. Bob was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII and received a Bronze Star. He was former president of the Exchange Club, past member of the Mount Moriah #77 F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge, and a devoted lifelong member of Anderson First Friends Church. Bob was known for many things including being a pilot. He is survived by his three daughters, Nickie (Craig) Barnhart, Penny Griffith, & Nancy (Jack) Mumbower; grandchildren, Ben (Becky) Mumbower, Nick (Michelle) Mumbower, Jake (Bethany) Mumbower, Kyle (Ashley) Ponsler, Kasey (Josh) Phillips, Megan, & Meredith Barnhart; and great grandchildren, Gabriel Freelander, Samantha, Candace, Luke, Emiie, & Natalie Mumbower, Blakley, Brinley, & Bella Ponsler, Colin & Kennedy Phillips. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Reedy) Griffith; and brothers, Max & Clifford Griffith. Services will be at 2pm Friday, December 17, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Pastor Clifton Ashlock officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services at the funeral home.
