Jacqueline Sue Howell

Jacqueline S. "Jackie" Howell, 91, of Lapel, passed away on Thursday July 11, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 26, 1932, in Lapel, Indiana to L. Guy Whetsel and Blanche (Sinders) Whetsel. Jackie graduated from Lapel High School class of 1950.

Jackie retired from Guide Lamp division of General Motors, where she was the first female supervisor in the personnel department. She absolutely loved watching her children and grandchildren in all sporting events, especially basketball and golf. Jackie was a very faithful and involved member of Ford Street Church since she was 11 years old. Not only did Jackie serve the Lord in Lapel, she also started an annual shoebox mission trip to Smith, Kentucky and Majestic, Kentucky and went on several other mission trips around the world. 

Jacqueline is survived by her husband, Jack Howell; Three sons, Jimmie Jack (Angie) Howell of Lapel, Ronnie (Laurie) Howell of Muncie, and Jon (Penny) Howell of Alexandria; Seven Grandchildren, Jennifer (Barry) Huckeby, Courtney (Clint) Rissman, J.R. (Kate) Howell, Jordan Howell, Kayley Howell, and Jodi Howell; Five great-grandchildren, and a few great-great-grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jay Emett Whetsel and Trevor Whetsel; One sister, Patty Lou Corn; Two grandsons, Jacob Morton Howell and Jay Clinton Howell.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Ford Street Church, 925 Ford Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051. Pastor Aaron Taylor with Ford Street Church will officiate the service. Following the service, burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel. 

Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Thursday at the church.
