Jack Melvin Crosley

Jack Melvin Crosley (92) transferred his membership to the Church Triumphant on December 26, 2021. He was born on May 24, 1929, to Helen and Fred Crosley. Jack resided in Pendleton for almost all his life, spending a few years in Colorado before beginning school. Jack graduated from Pendleton High School where he was a starter for the 1947 fighting Irish basketball team which went to the semi state. Jack also competed in track, baseball and was a thespian. Jack married his high school sweetheart, Carol Hawk, on September 27, 1947. Together, Jack and Carol raised 4 children and housed them in the house that Jack built and lived in for 65 years! Jack was a man of many talents! He loved helping people and could solve almost any problem that friends would bring to him. His ingenious inventions never received patents, but they sure amazed many and accomplished what was needed. Jack had a wonderful group of friends who supported his fixing habit. He and Carol traveled to Alaska and other vacation spots, with friends, Marj and Jim Schug, twice on mission trips, once delivering a beat-up van, which broke down a few times on the way! Jack continued his education by attending apprentice school. He then worked his way up the ranks at Guide Lamp, with his last job before retirement as superintendent of the tool room. Jack was a Free Mason for 66 years, Shriner, member of the Pendleton First United Methodist Church where he was a trustee for many of those years, little league coach, avid outdoor sportsman, husband, father, and his greatest role- Pap! Jack adored his family! He was the number one fan at countless football, basketball, softball games, wrestling matches, swim, gymnastics, and track meets. Fond memories of family dinners every Sunday, swimming and birthday parties, Dale Hollow vacations with extended family, river trips in his boat, were what Jack enjoyed most! He loved a good laugh and lived his life serving others.Jack’s wonderful legacy is his family that he and Carol began with the birth of their 4 children: Vicki (Greg and Diana) Jones, Eric, Mike, and Deanna (Ken) Fowler. He enjoyed spoiling grandchildren: Amanda (Mike) Kemper, Robyn (Jason) Morrissette, AJ (Kim) Jones, Stephanie (Todd) Bieberich, Prema (Vanessa) Crosley, and Brent Fowler (fiancée – Maria Huynh) and great grandchildren: Mackenzie and Kyle Kemper, Braelynn and Jackson Jones, Madeleine Morrissette, Avery and Brynn Bieberich, and Sophia and Ella Crosley. Other survivors include his brother Jim (Marilyn) Crosley, sister Deborah (Edgar) Kinnaman, sisters-in-law: Sandy and Betty Crosley, special niece: Patricia (Dick) Dunbar, and several wonderful nieces and nephews. Jack was proceeded in death by his parents, wife, Carol of 72 years, daughter Vicki, and brothers Jon and Gene Crosley.Visitation for Jack will be on Friday, January 7th from 3-8 p.m. at the Wilson St. Pierre Lahm Chapel in Pendleton. There will be a celebration of life for both Jack and Carol on Saturday, January 8th at the Pendleton First United Methodist Church, 225 W. State St. at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the services.A masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, January 7th at Lahm Chapel. We would be honored if you would join us to celebrate these two!
