Inos S. Russell

Inos S. "Russ" Russell, 94, Anderson, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson. He was born on October 8, 1920, in Paragould, Arkansas to Thomas and Lillie (Hazelwood) Russell. Inos owned and operated Russell Oil Company in Anderson from 1964 to 1985. Prior to that time, he worked for the former Everybody's Oil and shortly at the former Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson where he met the love of his life, Rachel Smethers. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel; the Grandview Men's Golf League; and formerly the Anderson Country Club. Inos had a true love for the game of golf and enjoyed baseball and basketball. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, the Indianapolis Colts and Pacers. He is survived by one daughter, Janet (husband, Jim) Christophersen of Dublin, OH; granddaughter, Jessica (husband, Jeff) Allen of Royal Palm Beach, FL; a special daughter-in-law, Kay (husband, Jeff) Coffel of Noblesville; three grandchildren, David Coffel of Pendleton, Ryan (wife, Heather) Coffel of Pendleton, and Angela (husband, Josh) Wilson of Noblesville; eleven great-grandchildren, Nolan, Conner, Austin, Lexi, Colton, Ashli, Kallie, Austin, Lili, Luke, and Cade; two sisters, Wilma Riley of Middletown, and Mildred Cannell of Atlanta; a brother-in-law, Frankie Koons of Middletown; and three sisters-in-law, Eloise Hunter of Lapel, Irma (husband, Jack) Hughes of Anderson, and Katie Smethers of Lapel. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Rachel (Smethers) Russell; a son, Dennis Russell; two brothers, Tommy Russell, Elmer "Bud" Russell; two sisters, Ellen Koons, and Elsie Elder ; and two brothers-in-law, Don and Keith Smethers. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Dewey Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, September 29, 2015, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P. O.
