Imelda Ann Vores

Imelda Ann “Katie” Vores peacefully passed away on July 7, 2021. She was the oldest child of Nicholas and Collette Kolenda. Born in Anderson, she was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and graduated from Anderson High School. Upon graduating, she was employed in the office of Hoyt Wright Men’s Clothing Store until her marriage in 1946. She was a mother of eight children and did not return to work outside the home until the death of her husband in 1978. She was then employed at her son’s grocery store, Harvest Supermarkets for 25 years, working in the Produce and Flower Departments until her retirement at age 81. Imelda is survived by her six children; Lawrence Vores, Charles (Dorothy) Vores, Nancy (Ronald) Bollman, Nicholas M. Vores, Patricia (Mark) Hughes, Marjory (David) Irwin; sisters, Mary Hawkins, Vivian Gwaltney; sisters-in-law, Edythe Vores, Jackie Vores; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allison Urbine; son, Timothy Vores; daughter, Amy Sczesny; daughter in-law, Sondra Vores; brothers, Edgar, Douglas and Michael Kolenda; sister, Julia Kolenda; grandson, Edward Bollman; twin great grandchildren, Braxton and Tinley Vores; brothers-in-law, Malcolm Hawkins, William Gwaltney; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Kolenda and Linda Kolenda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Williams Officiating and the Rev. John Hall as Concelebrant. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul or the Salvation Army.
