Hugh Henry Clark, 74, Lapel, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Holsten Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tenn. following a sudden illness. He was born on February 3, 1940, in Scott County, Virginia to Lafayette and Estelle (Smith) Clark. He was a U. S. Army veteran. Hugh had worked at the former Firestone Industrial Products in Noblesville for 15 years and was a truck mechanic for several different trucking companies. He was a member of the Lapel American Legion Post 212. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sara (Davidson) Clark ; two children, Clifton (wife, Rebecca) Clark of Alexandria and Christina (husband, Darrell) Couch of Orestes; five grandchildren, Christopher, Sara, Amanda, Elizabeth, and Mariah; five step-grandchildren, Derek, Darren, Erica, Kristen, and Mathew; one great-grandson; four step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mervin (wife, Wanda) Clark of Westfield and Jim Clark of Scott Co., VA; one sister, Jean Crawford of Kingsport, TN; his sister-in-law, Ann Clark of Scott Co., VA; and a brother-in-law, Alan Bright of Scott Co., VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arthur Clark; a sister, Barbara Bright; and two infant sisters. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
