Hobert Clifford Cliff Dunson

November 29, 1925 — March 20, 2009

Hobert Clifford Cliff Dunson, 83, Anderson, passed away Friday, March 20, 2009, at his residence following a five-year battle with cancer.
He was born on November 29, 1925, in Langley, Arkansas to James and Ellie (Lawless) Dunson.
He graduated from Langley High School in 1941 at the age of 16 and began teaching school there when he was 17. He attended Henderson State Teachers College and Ball State Teachers College.
He was a WWII and Korean War veteran of the U. S. Navy.
Cliff retired in 1980 from Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson after 31 years of employment.
He was an active member of the U. A. W. local 662 and had served as a benefits representative and editor of The Delco Sparks. He also served as education director, pension committeeman and committeeman of the union. Cliff was very active in local politics and met regularly with the Tenderloin Club until he was no longer able.
A lifelong musician, Cliff enjoyed playing guitar and singing with and for friends and family. He was a member of the band, Deweys Group, and he has passed this love and talent to his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years, Betty (Brooks) Dunson; four children, Teresa Hopper of Sharpsville, Tammy (husband, Frank) Smith of Anderson, Dennis (wife, Myra) Neff and Darrell (wife, Ruth) Neff, both of Anderson; two grandchildren, Dan Smith and Amy (husband, Joshua) Bair; and a great-grandson, Jacob Bair.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James; a brother, Dewey; and a sister, Dera Hope.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, March 23, 2009, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Anderson with Rev. Neil Butcher officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
The family would especially like to thank St Johns Hospice for their loving and wonderful care, and the Anderson Fire Department for their service and compassion.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint John's Hospice or the Anderson Fire Department.
