Henry (Bus) McCarroll, 99, Anderson, passed away January 20, 2016 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born November 11, 1916 in Denton, AR, the son of the late George and Nettie McCarroll. He lived in Anderson for 76 years; Bus was a self made business man. He was an automobile dealer in Anderson for over 50 years. He also operated the Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Buick dealership in Elwood, IN. He was also very active in real estate purchases in and around Anderson.
He was a member of the Meadowbrook Church of Christ, the Hoxie Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; former Elk’s Lodge and had served on the Board of the Central Indiana Automobile Dealers Association. Bus was also a member of the Edgewood Country Club and enjoyed playing golf there and in Florida. He had a hole-in-one in Florida at the age of 88 and played a round of golf on his 98th birthday.
His main goal in life was to stay close to God and to take care of his family, and he excelled at both.
He is survived by his son, Rusty (wife, Sharon) McCarroll of Anderson; six grandchildren, Zac (wife, Shannon) McCarroll, Chris (friend, Jenean) Muncy, Ben (friend, Toni) Jarrett, Todd Swinford, Patrick (wife, Jeannette) Swinford, and Nicole (husband, Clint) Bledsoe; eleven great grandchildren, Ava McCarroll, Maggie McCarroll, Knox McCarroll, Cade McCarroll, Tanner Winningham, Cannon Bledsoe, O’Hara Bledsoe, Gracie Swinford, Trinity Muncy, Jake Millikan and Brad Kendred; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, J.T (wife, Marty) Freeman and Sally Freeman and many nephews, nieces, cousins and a special friend, Bob Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn, who he could not wait to see; a daughter, Brenda Jarrett; his brothers and sisters, Carroll, Randal, Hubert, Hadley, Lois, Laura and Bernice.
A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 25, 2016 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with James Harrison officiating. A private family entombment will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
