Helen Ruth Ogden

Helen Ruth (Jakes) Ogden, 89, of Anderson, passed away July 12, 2021.She was born November 19, 1931 in Connersville, Indiana and was an Anderson resident most of her life.Helen was an Anderson High School graduate and worked at Delco Remy before the birth of her children. She was a homemaker and later worked in the Pendleton Junior High School Cafeteria.She loved to watch all her grandkids in sports, choir and cheering. She also enjoyed crappie fishing.Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edgar H. Ogden whom she married on January 20, 1951, they were high school sweethearts and married over 60 years; parents, John and Mildred (Wilder) Jakes; grandson, Justin Ogden; daughter-in-law, Karen Ogden; and sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Bill DeWitt.Survivors include her children, Dianna (Jim) Risch, Peggy (David) Hinchman and Gary Ogden; grandchildren, Collin (Audrey) Taylor, Blaine (Justin) Barnhart, Trista (Elisha) Marshall, Grady Hinchman, Brent Hinchman, Shayla (Brandon) Roush, Heather (Nick) Patterson and Lacey Ogden (Chris); 14 great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Bill Ogden.Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton with Pastor Joe Roysden officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday at Lahm Chapel.
