Helen Pauline Houser, 95, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at her residence in Anderson. She was born July 13, 1923, in Elwood to the late Ralph & Dakota Virginia (Gillam) Dennis. Helen retired from St. John’s Hospital in 1985, after 25 years as an aid and ward clerk. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School. Helen was also known as, “Puddles the Clown”, bringing joy to many children on numerous occasions. She was not only a mother to six, but also a mother figure to many in the community. She is survived by her children, James (wife, Debra) Houser, Ann (husband, Wayne) Sexton, Brett (wife, Jeanne) Houser, Bob Houser, Mary (husband, Jeff) Widener, and Patrick (wife, Michelle) Houser; grandchildren, Jason, David, & Russell Houser, Jeff, Jim, Glen, & Ben Johnson, Matthew Houser, Kristen Challis, Julie Vandergrift, Emily Campbell, Matthew & Drew Widener, Logan Houser, & Jordan Boylen; several great and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert L. Houser; siblings, Dick Dennis, Beverly Fakes, and Mike Krogel; daughter-in-law, Dale Houser; and grandson, Wade Johnson. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 22, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
