Helen E. Whitmill

Helen E. Whitmill, 66, Lapel, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2006, at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born on October 21, 1939, in Elwood, Indiana to Carl and Mabel (Hahn) Mead.
Helen was employed in environmental services at Riverview Hospital for 27 years.
She is survived by six children, Kay Sigler of Anderson, Ivonda (husband, Ron) Connor of Anderson, Farrell Cornwell of Anderson, Alice (husband, Gary) Barnes of Anderson, Monica Cornwell of Anderson, and Veronica (husband, Richard) Defoel of Bloomington; her mother, Mabel Mead of Elwood; two brothers, Jack Mead of Elwood, and Richard Mead of Alexandria; one sister, Stella Wood of Bunker Hill, IL; sixteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Whitmill; and a grandson, Shawn Cornwell.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Joel Sandefur officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.
