Helen E. Egly

Helen E. Egly, 88, Lapel, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Community Hospital of Anderson.
She was born on January 9, 1920, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Americus and Estella (Brown) Bourke.
She graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute in 1938 and received her teaching degree from Indiana State Teachers College in 1943. She received a nursing degree from Indiana University in 1947.
Helen taught high school home economics for two years and was then a school nurse.
She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Anderson and a former member of the Central Christian Church in Terre Haute. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha and Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honorary.
She is survived by three children, David (wife, Cindy) Egly of Lapel, Sarah (husband, Mike) Ayres of Sugar Land, TX, and Diana Egly of Mountainview, CA; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Olevia Cascadden of Lapel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Richard Egly; one daughter, Joan Egly; and one brother, Ned Bourke.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday at Roselawn Memorial Park Chapel in Terre Haute with Rev. Rebecca Zelensky officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park , Terre Haute.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel and from 10:00 am until the time of the service Monday at Roselawn Memorial Park Chapel, 7500 North Clinton Street, Terre Haute.
