Helen A. Gentry, 95, former Noblesville and Anderson resident, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2004, at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield following an extended illness.
She was born on June 9, 1909, in Hamilton Couty, Indiana to Scott and Amy (McDonald) Anderson. She had worked in several Anderson department stores as a seamstress in their tailor shops and she retired from the Dorthy Blevins Shop in 1973. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Gentry in 1984. She was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church and she entered the Lapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter 457 in 1932 and served as Worthy Matron in 1940. She was also a member of R. S. V. P. in Anderson. She is survived by one daughter, Rita (husband, William) Hunt of Anderson; two grandchildren, Tim (wife, Nancy) Hunt, and Angelia (husband, Don) Wilson both of Anderson; four great grandsons, Daniel Hunt, Andrew Hunt, Joseph Barcus, and Jonathan Barcus all of Anderson; two step-granddaughters, Alexis Wilson and Raquel Wilson both of Alexandria; special nieces, Viola Goldstein of Las Vegas, NV, Norma Leeman, and Sherry Minton both of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, Lapel with Rev. Tom Lutz officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until the time of the service Saturday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edgewood Baptist Church, 3743 West Nichol Avenue, Anderson, Indiana 46011.
