Harvey E. Rogers, 97, of Noblesville, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Five Star Residences in Noblesville, Indiana. Harvey was born April 22, 1924, in Paragould, Arkansas to Walter E. and Martha Grace Rogers. He retired from Guide Lamp, Division of General Motors after 34 years of service. He was a farmer his entire life.
Harvey was a long time member of Prairie Baptist Church in Noblesville. He served as a Deacon for many years, and taught Sunday School until he was 75 years old. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 78 years, Doris (Burton) Rogers of Noblesville; daughter, Jane Shively of Noblesville; son-in-law Bob Blevins of Huntsville, Indiana; seven grandchildren: Cari (Robert) Carter, Paul Rogers, Jennifer Moyes, Daniel (Starla) Shively, Ben (Leah) Rogers, Michael (Amanda) Rogers, and Matthew (Bobbi) Shively; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He loved farming. He loved to smell the fresh dirt turned over in the spring. He farmed all his life and was still in the tractor working his fields at age 92.
He was a great observer of nature and people. He rarely lost his temper, always tried to do the right thing and never held a grudge. He was always willing to help others.
He loved feeding and watching the birds. He loved his cats and they swarmed around him when he walked to the barn to feed them. He loved to cut firewood, build things and fix things. He was a worker.
He dug a pond and liked to fish, though mostly he loved to watch his grandkids fish. He loved his family and prayed for them daily. He read his Bible every day, no matter how busy he was with two jobs and other responsibilities.
He was a dedicated Christian man who always put the Lord first. He was a man of strength, integrity and faith.
