Harry L. Stahl, 90, Anderson, passed away August 8, 2014, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born September 24, 1923 in Anderson, the son of John and Lena Stahl. He lived all of his life in Anderson and graduated from Anderson High School in 1941. He was formerly employed at the Bryant and Lucas Pure Oil Service at 14th and Madison Ave from 1936 to 1965. In 1987 he retired from Delco Remy after 23 years of employment where he was a member of the UAW-CIO Local #662. Harry was a combat wounded Army veteran of WWII, serving in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.
He was a life long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He had life memberships in the Veterans of Foreign War Post #266 of Anderson, the Disabled American Veterans, the American Order of the Purple Heart, the American Order of the French Croix De Guerre and the American Legion Post 127 of Anderson.
He is survived by his four children, Deborah Stahl of Cranford, NJ, Jane Jones and partner, Tim Schaefer of Warren, Harry Mark (Jeanie) Stahl of Anderson and Sandy (Joe) Fenwick of Anderson; five grandchildren, Ryan Stahl, Andrew (Kristin) Stahl, Ashley Jones, Lauren Jones and Kayleigh (Tyler) Muir; one great grandchild, Sullivan Stahl, several nieces and nephews and longtime family friend, Lydia Whitefield.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Ann Stahl in 2003; three sisters and two brothers, Esther Stoops, Mary Ellen Porter, Rose Humbles, Carl Stahl and John Stahl.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 310 East 53rd St., Anderson, with Pastor Wade Apel officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post #266.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory and one hour prior to the service at the church.
