Harold “H” Markle, 84, of Markleville, passed away on March 4, 2019 at Rawlins House in Pendleton. He was born on October 15, 1934 in Markleville to the late Evert and Eva (Hodson) Markle. Harold was a school teacher having taught at Markleville High School, Pendleton Heights High School, and Lapel High School, retiring in 1999. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Markleville Fire Department for 40 years, an Elder at Markleville North Christian Church, and a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash. He is survived by his wife, Grace (Stohler) Markle of Markleville; daughters, Regena (Ted) Schipp of Markleville, Becki (Rick) Canfield of Lapel; grandchildren, Logan Stone, Aubrey Stone, Sierra Canfield, Brook Canfield, Amanda Canfield, Michaela Mehling; siblings, Max (Mary) Markle, Nancy (Kyle) Sandefur; sister in-laws, Faith (Jim) Burmeister, Judy Stohler, and many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Lewis; brother, Eldon Markle; brother in-laws, Col. David Stohler, Phillip Stohler, Eugene Cantlin; sister in-laws, Dellarose Gustin, Paula Nugent, and Joyce Markle. Services will be on Thursday at 11:00 am at Markleville North Christian Church, 32 State St., Markleville, IN 46056 with Pastor John Hackney officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013, and one hour prior at the church on Thursday. Memorial Contributions may be made to North Markleville Christian Church.
