Hanford “Hank” E. Spurlin, 87, of Anderson, passed away May 24, 2017 at Countryside Manor after a brief illness. He was born May 1, 1930 in Wilder, TN, the son of Cordell and Ora (Gunter) Spurlin. Hank served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Container Corporation after 34 years of service in Production. He was a NASCAR fan, especially following Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He also enjoyed fishing and was an exceptional guitar player. He is survived by his children, William (Valerie) Spurlin and Marcia Douglas, all of Anderson; grandchildren, Elijah (girlfriend, Jacki) Spurlin of Florida and Kylee (Ryan) Bond of Pendleton; great-grandchildren, Brooks & Hallie; siblings, Anna (Clovis) Cravens of Daleville, Veo Wise of Daleville and Junior (Debbie) Spurlin of Kentucky; many nieces and nephews including one special niece, Pam Guenther; and his ex-wife, Emogene Spurlin of Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward (Wanda) Spurlin; and sister, Betty Sisson. Services will be 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Mike Weber officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted. Visitation will be 10:00-12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
