Gladys Flowers Hunt, 100, passed away peacefully Nov. 11, 2019 at her home in Anderson, Ind. She was born June 18, 1919 to the late Everett and Grace Kinder in Dearborn County, Ind. She was a longtime member of Columbus Ave. Church of Christ and devoted follower of Jesus. A strong matriarch of her family, she worked tirelessly outside the home until her retirement from Delco Remy in 1984. Her greatest passion was serving and caring for her family and friends. She welcomed many into her home with an open heart, and constantly put others’ needs before her own. She lived with the knowledge that true beauty radiates from the inside out. Her altruism, generosity, servanthood, and strong faith made an indelible impression on all who knew her. When faced with life challenges, she rarely complained, but instead carried a quiet strength and a smile at every juncture. Gladys is survived in legacy by her daughters, DeAnna Flowers, Rebecca (Barry) King and Deborah (John) Brehm; grandchildren Robin (Damon) Heasley, Tiffany (PJ) Longstreth, Brady (Sandretta) King, Michelle (Brad) Auler, Jaime (Murray) Sanderson, Kim Bond, Jeffrey (Lindsay) Brehm, Jeremy (Amanda) Brehm, and Jordan Brehm; 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply. She was preceded in death by her husbands; Harold Flowers (1969) and Avery Hunt (1999); brothers, Clifford, Estel and Earl Kinder, and twins that passed in infancy; and sisters, Mary Waller and Dortha Kinder. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson. A celebration of life will follow on Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
