Gladys Irene Hiday, 88, Elwood, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon following a brief illness. She was born on October 19, 1923, in Westfield, Indiana to John and Merree (Mendenhal) Dautrich. She graduated from Noblesville High School. Gladys was employed at one time at the former Firestone plant in Noblesville but spent most of her life as a homemaker. She was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ralph Hiday; two children, Sandra Isaac of Indianapolis and Steven Hiday (fiance, Kelly Sosbe) of Elwood; three grandchildren, Rodney Isaac, Angie (husband, Jim) Bailey both of Indianapolis, and Kebra (husband, Chris) Kincer of Waynetown; and five great-grandchildren, Bryce Pickett of Lebanon, Isaac Pickett of Indianapolis, Kyra Bailey of Indianapolis, and Miranda and Christian Kincer of Waynetown. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Donald Salsbery; and a brother, Cloy Dautrich. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Harold Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ford Street United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 626, Lapel, Indiana 46051-0626.
