George W. Williams, 93, of Anderson, passed away, July 16, 2018 at Primrose Memory Care. George was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Ravenscroft, Tenn., the son of the late Ely and Lean Williams. He was a WWII Army veteran of the European Theater and had worked for the former Container Corporation for 42 years before retiring in 1987. George enjoyed wintering in Florida, playing shuffle board, bowling, fishing, talking on his CB radio, square dancing, and visiting his family in Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rosella Williams; children, Jackie Lee Robinson, Carol (husband, Charles) Humphreys and Belinda (husband, Dale) Jackson; grandchildren, Steven (wife, Lydia) Robinson, Scott Robinson, Lisa (husband, Marcellus) Peters, Lynn Sheard, Christa (husband, Britton) Henderson, Carrie Humphreys, Cory (wife, Michelle) Humphreys, Michelle (husband, Joey) Windell, Corenne Phillips, and Kimberly (husband, Chris) Siler; 29 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his 11 brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 a.m., Saturday, at St Mary Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert Sell III officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 pm at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 East 53rd St. and one hour prior to the mass at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
