George Joseph Armstrong

George Joseph “Joe” Armstrong, III of Anderson, passed away May 10, 2016.

He was born on August 18, 1957 in Anderson to George, Jr. and Frances (Swango) Armstrong and has resided in Anderson all of his life. He was employed at the YMCA in Anderson for many years.

Joe was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a long time member of the YMCA.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Susan A. and Eric L. Jones of Anderson; aunts and uncles, Arnold and Mary Swango of Anderson; Dorville Swango of Gaston and Shirley Swango of Anderson; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George, Jr. and Frances Armstrong; two aunts and three uncles.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Donna Goings officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11:30-1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
