George Anthony Zink, Jr. entered eternal life on January 6, 2020 at his home in Noblesville, Indiana. George was born on June 15, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the first child of George and Genevieve Zink. George was a ’54 graduate of Bedford High School where he met his future bride, Kathleen Anne Farrell. George graduated in 1958 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Notre Dame and was engaged to Kitty in December of that year. George and Kitty were married at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Bedford on October 17, 1959 and moved to Anderson, Indiana, where George began a lifelong career with Delco-Remy division of General Motors. After his retirement in 1992, he helped found Stored Energy Engineering. George was a devoted father to his ten children, Bill, Anne, Cath, Joan, Joe, Susan, Matt, Jim, Paul and Karl. He was an active parishioner at St. Mary in Anderson for 60 years. George had a heart for the poor and lived a life of service to others as an expression of his Catholic faith. George enjoyed spending Christmas with his family each year at CYO Camp Rancho Framasa, and his summers with his children, extended family and friends at their lake cottage in Lake Leelanau, Michigan, where he will be remembered as the finest captain of the pontoon boat and as Kitty’s companion on the deck enjoying a happy hour Manhattan. George’s legacy of faith, service, integrity, loyalty and love will live on in his beloved wife of sixty years, Kitty, and their children, William (Sharri) Zink, Anne (Jerry) Corcoran, Catherine (Steve) Wyss, Joan (Terry) McConkey, Joseph (Sarah) Zink, Arron Flora, Matthew (Mary Beth O’Brien) Zink, James (Kim Ebert) Zink, Paul (Jennifer) Zink and Karl (Lindsay Baroody) Zink, his twenty seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Helen Zink, of West Lafayette, IN. and his brother, John (Mary) Zink of Tulsa, OK. George was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Susan Flora. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 10 at St Mary Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl St, Anderson, IN 46016. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory in Anderson with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m., and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
