George Alan Sheller, 63, Lapel, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. He was born on June 26, 1950, in Anderson, Indiana to George H. and Wanda (Carlin) Sheller. He graduated from Noblesville High School in 1968 and served in the U. S. Army Green Beret Special Forces. George was a driver for Red Gold and had also been a self-employed construction worker. He was a member of the Lapel American Legion Post 212 and the Lapel Eagles Aerie 4323. He is survived by his fiance, Minnie Delph; two children, Christain Sheller and Bridget (husband, Brandon) McKinney both of Noblesville; two grandchildren, Bryce Gibson and Brayden McKinney; his parents, George and Wanda Sheller of Tipton; three brothers, Gary (wife, Karen) Sheller of Levenworth, Paul (wife, Dani) Sheller of Lapel and Mark (wife, Beth) Sheller of Noblesville; and a sister-in-law, Sherry Sheller of Noblesville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa and a brother David. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 20, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Brother Gene Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel where the Lapel American Legion will perform military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
