George Adam Kachelein, Jr., 90, Lapel, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016, at his home.He was born on Ocotber 22, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio to Goerge and Jenny (Janka) Kachelein, Sr.George served in the South Pacific during WWII and worked at the United Nations Formation Converence in San Franisco as a Navy Seaman. He retired in 1976 as a captain ot the Anderson Fire Department after 22 years of service. George was self-employed as a professionl painter and wall paperer. "Let George Do It."He was a member ot the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel where he taught Sunday school, lead bible study, and sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Lapel Lions Club.Geoerge is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Maye (Bohannan) Kachelein; three daughters, Corene (husband, Kurt) Foust, Cynthia (husband, Brian) Selzer, and Catherine (husband, Ron) Metcalfe; twelve grandchidren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Kachelein, one sister, Elizabeth Gdovin; sister-in-law, Barbara (husband, David) Mitchel; and several niees and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Christine (Kachelein) Oaks; one brother; and two sisters.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor Dewey Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, September 2, 2016, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.In lieu of flowers, memorial conriutios may be amde to Trinity United Methodist Church Youth Ministry, P. O Box 606, Lapel, Indiana 46051-0606.
