George A. Parker, 86, Arcadia, formerly of Rockville, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013, at his home following a period of declining health. He was born on August 4, 1927, in Hamilton County, Indiana to John and Eula (Rinker) Parker. He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1945. George retired from the former Firestone Industrial Products in Noblesville after 25 years of employment and he retired from farming in 2012. He loved socializing at the grain elevator and sale barn and was a member of the retired U. R. W. Local 138. He is survived by his wife Alberta Jane (Herron) Parker; four sons, Mike (wife, Shari) Tapscott of Decatur, IL, Ken (wife, Chana) Tapscott of Fortville, Tom Parker of Arcadia, and Chris Parker (fiance, Teresa) of Anderson; three daughters, Jane Vestal of Arcadia, Judy Brown-Anderson of Fishers and Mary (husband, Bill) Hammond of Anderson; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Margaret Presser, Kathryn Sharkey, Mary Harrison, and Lois Fulp; two brothers, Howard and Lowell Parker; and two sons-in-law, Larry Brown and Lowell Anderson. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Jim Dillinger officiating. Burial will follow in Perkinsville Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Hamilton County Humane Society.
