Gene Burris

Gene Burris, 69, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Community Hospital of Anderson following complications after an extended illness.
He was born on May 15, 1938, in Cicero, Indiana to John and Eileen (Teeters) Burris.
He graduated from Lapel High School in 1956.
Gene had been employed by Guide Lamp for 20 years and he retired in 1996 from EDS.
He attended Trinity United Methodist; was a member of the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625; and the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He was active in coaching baseball with the Shadyside Little League and Anderson Babe Ruth. He enjoyed showing his car in car shows and was a member of the White River Cruisers.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Burris; two children, Michael Burris of Encino, CA, and Lisa France of Anderson; his mother, Mary Eileen Burris of Fishersburg; one sister, Sue Banning of Anderson; three grandchildren, Brandon, Felicia, and John France.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one brother, Terry Burris.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev.s Jerry Snyder and William Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
