Garry M. 'Buff' Scherer

Garry M. "Buff" Scherer, 69, of Lapel, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born on April 29, 1953, in Anderson, Indiana to Woodrow and Thelma (Gray) Scherer.
He graduated from Lapel High School in 1972.
He retired from Brockway Glass in 2014 after 30+ years of employment.
He was a member of the Lapel Eagles Aerie 4323. He was the former president of Lapel Little League and a former member of the Lapel Town Council. He was an avid fan of IU Basketball and the Pittsburg Steelers. He loved hotrods and rock music.
Garry is survived by a daughter, Tarra (Shane) Kernodle of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Chyanna (Alexander) Mason and Brady Giguere; two brothers, Tom "Steve" (Becky) Scherer of Farmland and Jay (Jovy) Scherer of Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Haiden and Adaleisa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Marsha (Ballard) Scherer; a son, Douglas Scherer; his parents; and a sister, Shirley Scherer.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday 2022, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lapel Little League.
