Garland E. Scott, 85, Anderson, passed away September 1, 2015 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born March 7, 1930, in Lillydale, TN, the son of the late Raymon and Ida (Stanford) Scott, he move to Anderson in 1948 and married Elizabeth Robinett on July 21, 1950. He retired from Delco-Remy in 1986 after 36.2 years of service as a utility-setup man in department 1740. He was a 50 year member and Past Master of Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681 in Anderson and a retired member of UAW-CIO local #662. He attended Eastside Church of God and also was a Kentucky Colonel.
Garland is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth (Jean) Scott of Anderson; three sons, Steven Scott of Anderson, Bob (Lynn) Scott of Alexandria and Larry (Linda Holland) Scott of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Kelli Drake, Jamey Knight, Jonathon Scott, Steven Scott; six great grandchildren and one great great grandson; one brother, Sid (Remona) Scott of Albany, KY; his sister-in-law, Ann Scott of Albany, Ky and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward M. (Dora) Scott, James M. Scott, Willie M. (Toni) Scott and Cline Estle Scott; a sister, Melba Speck; grandson, Dustin L. Scott and daughter-in-law, Peggy L. Scott.
Service will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Gary Marcum officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with a Masonic Memorial Service conducted at 7:30 P.M. Friday by Fellowship Masonic Lodge.
