Frederick Allen Knapp

Frederick Allen "Fred" Knapp, 79, Cicero, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born on January 22, 1937, in Cicero, Indiana to Harold and Ada (Kaiser) Knapp.

He graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1955 and was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in the U. S. Naval reserves.

Fred retired from Beaver Gravel after 48 years of employment.

He is survived by his wife of 60 1/2 years, Martha (Smeltzer) Knapp; two children, Jeff (wife, Tracy) Knapp of Corinth, TX and Connie (husband, Chuck) Hands of Noblesville; seven grandchildren, Julie (husband, Ross) Bassinger, Benjamin Knapp, Tanya, Jake, and Samantha Southard, Brandon Hands and Olivia McJunkin; five great-grandchildren, Edward, Taylar, and Raylynn Southard, Declan and Ezra Hands; one brother, Donald (wife, Dorothy) Knapp of Arcadia; and a sister, Patty (husband, Ronald) Brockett of Arcadia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Kim Dent and Lisa Southard; and a brother, Dennis Knapp.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Arcadia Church of the Brethren with Rev. Mark Knapp officiating. Burial will follow in Arcadia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, May 2, 2016, at Arcadia Church of the Brethren, 8989 East 266th Street, Arcadia.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hamilton County Humane Society.
