Freda Mae Males, 87, Fishersburg, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015, at Rawlins House in Pendleton following an extended illness. She was born on April 30, 1927, in Sulfur Springs, Indiana to Ward and Irene (Harless) Renner. She graduated from Lapel High School in 1944. Freda retired from Sam's Club in Indianapolis where she worked as a demo lady for many years. She attended the Lone Oak Wesleyan Church and had been in a bowling league at the former Lapel Lanes for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of, George Males; two sons, Michael (wife, Debbie) Males of Greenfield and Mark (wife, Diana) Males of Anderson; four grandchildren; David (wife, Sheri) Males, Alison (husband, Matthew) Boxer, Amanda Ridgeway (Tim Hood), and Mollie (husband, Kevin) Stephenson; seven great-grandchildren, Stella Mae Males, Sasha Carolyn Boxer, Levi Maxwell Boxer, Caden and Avery Hood, and Katie and Jack Stephenson; one sister, Velma (husband, Alva Edsel) Rich; and one niece, Jan Turberville. She was preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 20, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Ed Purciful officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel on what would have been their 67th wedding anniversary. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lone Oak Wesleyan Church, 486 North 500 West, Anderson, Indiana 46011or the American Cancer Society.
