Fred Thompson Jr., 77, passed away on January 12, 2021 with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born on January 15, 1943 in Anderson to Fred and Beverly Thompson Sr. Fred graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1961. He retired from Guide Lamp after 30 years and was a Local 663 Union Official for over 18 of those years. He enjoyed quality time with his wife and family. He was a member of Hoosier Street Rod and Classic Car Club along with his two close friends, Rick and Sid, and enjoyed showing his 1963 Thunderbird “Rolling Thunder”. For over 24 years Fred would put on his red suit and become Santa Claus for his family, friends and the city of Anderson. Thank you Anderson. December was always special to him. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon (Darby) Thompson, who he first met when she was 14 and he was 15, and would marry her 15 years later. Sharon and Fred shared a special love for each other. He is also survived by his mother, Beverly Thompson; sister, Nancy Burke; daughters, Rhonda Estes, Kelli Thompson Whitehead; sons, Jason Thompson, Richard Elliott, Kevin Thompson, Robert Elliott; grandchildren, Crystal Elliott, Cody Estes, Dane Elliott, Brian Elliott, Ryan Whitehead, Austin Thompson, Carmin Elliott, Jonah Dawson; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his dog, Biscuit and Cat. Fred was preceded in death by his father, Fred Thompson Sr.; daughter, Christi Thompson Hart; granddaughters, Jaime Lynne McFarland and Becca Michelle Elliott. No funeral services are being held at this time, but a Celebration of Life is to be announced at a later date.
