Eunice R. Shafer

Eunice R. Shafer, 84, Lapel, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Rawlins House in Pendleton following extended illness.
She was born on July 22, 1934, in Paton, Iowa to Hilmer and Gladys (Selim) Carlson.
She retired from the former Fisher Brothers Furniture and Funeral Home in Lapel.
Eunice was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel; the Lida Teeters Circle; and the Lapel Lioness Club. She and her husband visited shut-ins from the church weekly and always greeted people with a warm smile and hug
She is survived by three daughters, Teresa (Dirk) DeWolfe, Jill (Greg) Stephenson, and Kim (Rich) Wagner; eight grandchildren, Cama, Lindsay, Amber, Alexa, Jordan, Joshua, Jared, and Justus; eight great-grandchildren, Carlie, Tayler, Jaden, Elijah, Sydney, Chloe, Tenley, and Owen; and one sister, Linda Burks.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Don; one brother, Wayne; and two sisters, Patty and Janet.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 217 East 7th Street, Lapel with Rev. Joseph Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
