Eugene “Gene” Magers

Eugene “Gene” Joseph Magers, 89, of Anderson, passed away on July 19, 2019 at St. Vincent Regional Hospital Anderson. He was born on September 16, 1929 in Anderson to the late Leo and Margaret (Miller) Magers. Gene graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1947. He served his country in the US Army. He retired from Anderson Banking Company as a Branch Manager in 1988 after 25 years of service. He was previously employed at Guide Lamp. Gene was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, a lifetime member of K of C Council #563, lifetime member of Elks Lodge #209, American Legion #127, Amvets #692, past Treasurer of Mounds Mall Merchants Association, and past Treasurer of United Cerebral Palsy Association. He is survived by his son, Jim (Beth) Magers of Noblesville; grandsons, John Magers and Dan Magers, both of Noblesville, and special caregiver, Sandra Brizendine. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis “Pinky” Ann (Hoffman) Magers, and a brother, John “Jack” Magers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl St., Anderson, IN 46016, with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the American Heart Association. .
