Eugene G. Gene Stephenson

Eugene G. Gene Stephenson, 83, Lapel, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009, at Rawlins House in Pendleton following an extended illness.
He was born on February 20, 1925, in Madison County, Indiana to Glen and Martha (Presser) Stephenson.
He graduated from Lapel High School in 1943.
He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Marines and he served with the 3rd Division in the South Pacific Theater, specifically in Iwo Jima and Guam
Gene had been employed by Delco Remy, Davis Dairy and he retired from McMahon Foods in Noblesville.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church; and the former Wayne Brotherhood and Sisterhood
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie A. (Breeden) Stephenson; five sons, Ron (wife, Donna) Stephenson of Lapel, David (wife, Jackie) Stephenson of Lapel, Tom (wife, Cindy) Stephenson of Anderson, Gary Stephenson of Marion, and Phillip Stephenson (friend, Kathy Brammer) of Lapel; one brother, Paul (wife, Pat) Stephenson of Lapel; eight grandchildren, Derek Stephenson, Jeremy Stephenson, Jenny Hawkins, Brian Stephenson, Kevin Stephenson, Marcus Stephenson, Shane Stephenson, Amie Brunton; thirteen great-grandchildren.; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandchildren, Aaron Stephenson, and Emily Stephenson.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Doug Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
